A third A Quiet Place film is still in the works and has a new filmmaker taking over the project.

Deadline is reporting that Pig director Michael Sarnoski is in negotiations to lead the project. The first two films—A Quiet Place Parts I & IItake place in a near-future where killer aliens have invaded and murder anything that makes a noise. They were created by John Kraskinski, who also stars in the film with Emily Blunt as two parents struggling to keep their children alive in this horrifically silent world.

Sarnoski has gotten a lot of attention lately after the critical success of his movie, Pig, a film starring Nicolas Cage as a man looking for his stolen truffle pig. (Fortunately he has a far better relationship with the pig than with Rain Man the horse.) That description doesn’t do the movie justice, however, as it’s about so much more than that, and it’s blown enough people away that it’s generated buzz for both Saronski and Cage potentially getting Oscar nominations. Kraskinski was apparently one of those impressed by the movie, and reached out to Sarnoski about potentially working on A Quiet Place film.

We don’t know much about this third Quiet Place movie, but we do know that it won’t be a sequel to the first two. Because of that we likely won’t see Blunt or Kraskinski reprise their roles. According to Deadline, this also might be the first of many potential Quiet Place projects, as the hope is this third film will open the door to creating A Quiet Place universe that Paramount Pictures can milk for all its worth.

No news yet on when Sarnoski’s Quiet Place film will go into production, much less make its way to the big screen.
